Anime-Ima! Issue #2 - Sign Ups

So we are heading for the Terrible Two!

And signups are starting early.
All contributors from the 1st issue automatically have the opportunity to become official Anime-Ima! staff writers.

I will also extend this to the community reviewers that contributed to Issue #1 to become official Anime-Ima! reviewers.  The reviews will have a standardised format to be adhered to.

Here is the process:
1. Reply and confirm that you will be writing for Issue #2.
2. Advise if it will include an article, review etc.
3. Issue #1 contributors advise if you're interested to become official Anime-Ima! staff writers.

UPDATE!
I have subdivided Anime-Ima! into sections with the sub-editors and the relevant contact details for any contributions.

Please contact the relevant sub-editor for details on standardised and minimum requirements for their relevant section.  I would suggest that you copy myself and Jason into any pm's regarding the magazine and contributions to avoid any delays etc.

1. Will definitely be on board this time for Issue #2.
2. I have already written two reviews, for Fractale and Onii-chan no Koto nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne!!. Jay, I think you may have copies that I e-mailed to you, but I want to re-edit them so I will submit them again later. I also want to write a review for another show, but have not decided what to write on yet... Shiki is a possibility. Also, I keep up to date on the majority of currently airing anime, so if you are doing a feature and need an opinion write-up*, let me know.

*Actually, a nice idea would be to feature the opinions of multiple people on the same ongoing show. It can be tricky because not everyone keeps up with airing shows, but if you can get 2-3 people to write just a short opinion, it would make the feature more interesting than just having a summary of the story and the characters.

I would also like to be part of the editing process - just for the writing, mind, proofreading and polishing articles and reviews.

Thanks novalis.
I have an idea to make this as streamlined as possible and afford you some editorial powers.
I will message you in a few.

I'm looking to help out as much as I can for this! I'll probably do mostly reviews, can maybe do some articles if I come up with some content.

Like Novalis I keep up with the currently airing anime (currently watching roughly 18 from this season, didn't actually count) so I'd also like to join in on the multiple opinions on airing anime if it happens, aswell as write reviews for the currently airing anime if we don't go for the multiple opinions route.

If there is anything else I can inform you on please ask and I'll respond asap :)

P.S. I can also help on the editorial side if needed.

Hey, thanks for this!
The more the merrier.  Reviews are always welcome.
I would request one thing, please ensure that the reviews are on completed series and not "still airing" series.

Novalis is in charge of reviews and she will communicate requirements and contact details for contributions.

If you are going to do any articles, you can communicate that through to me, jason baka and Zeiphex. We are in control of articles, editorial and layout of the magazine.

Thanks for the reply, I'd only be doing reviews on still airing anime you guys told me to, was simply following up on Novalis' post about it :)

I see.
My concern is that you are not able to give a complete opinion on an incomplete series.
A lot of series start off great but then tank at the last few episodes...

I would like some feedback on this though.

Do you have a publication date in mind yet? I'm interested in writing something but won't be able to if the deadline is something like 3 weeks from now.

I think it's crucial. I can't think of a single magazine that doesn't offer some kind of first look or preview, it would ensure the magazine offers current information - if a series tanks somewhere along the way it's not really our fault, and we'll mention it when we do eventually cover the whole series/season.

Come this far, so I'm in! I do have reservations as I'm still without DSL/WiMAX and can't download anything new, but I'm sure I can either work something out via the trade thread or be creative and write about something else.

OK.

I'm willing to concede to it being "previews" but it can not be a "review"...we can look at reworking the title somewhat and call it "Reviewing as it is..." I will be happy with that.

I want all staff writer reviews to be heavily opiniated but with substantiation for validity.
To have an opinion is easy, to have a valid opinon is difficult.

2 months from now.
So we will look at 27 July launch date.

1. I wrote for the first issue (toradora review) and will definitely write for this one.
2. I will be doing an anime review, just one question, can I review an older show or should it be fairly new? (or if I write about an older show, should I just call it a retrospective?)
3. I am definitely interested in becoming an official Anime-Ima! staff writer.

This is awesome, I hope Anime-Ima! does well.

Oh, should reviews include scores at the end?

Hi
No problems.  Novalis will be able to answer any of your questions regarding reviews.
I have no qualms for reviews on older series.  The only thin thenis that you need to be able to know your stuff regarding that series/movie as almost everyone else would have seen it.

I love the idea of "retrospectives".

Sweet, in that case I will be writing either a review or a retrospective (exactly how old would something have to be to qualify for a retrospective?)
