- So any suggestions on what should tweeted or displayed on these accounts would be greatly appreciated.
- If anyone could discuss the benefits of a facebook "Fan Page" versus a group.
(I haven't used facebook in ages and am not familiar with its new functions) - Are there any other social media type sites we should look into?
Perhaps youtube for when we start linking videos in the mag?
Twitter I have no clue about as I don't use it myself.
Facebook pages are a relatively new thing and most of the 'Pages' (mainly discussion forums etc) have migrated to 'Groups' in the meantime. The main difference for me is you have to get invited to a Facebook 'Group', or place a request to 'be added' on the 'Group' which then has to be approved. Anyone can send out invites on a group to all or selected friends they have on Facebook. (Another thing to check is your 'settings' - by default it sends you an e-mail every time someone posts or replies in the group which can get a bit overwhelming at times - best to opt out of this - you'll still get your little 'red' Facebook notifications on your main Facebook page in any event when someone makes a new post and be informed of replies to a topic, if you posted a reply, liked a post, but there is an option to unsubscribe from a particular post & replies)
As for how much creative freedom a page vs a group allows you I'm not certain.
YouTube sounds like a great idea, but they can be very hard on copyright infringement, so ensure that you are linking to original content.
