Review for HP dt2000i EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE

Supplier: Makro
Price: R999 incl VAT
Capacity: 2TB
Notes: This product is a Western Digital product with a HP badge. Contains a 2TB WD SATA drive
Purchased the unit to store all my documents and files to get rid of a file server I was using, and with the aim to taking my data over to New Zealand easily in my hand luggage. The great news is this unit plugs in and works, no drivers, no nothing. It is USB3.0 capable but is backwards compatible to USB2.0
Speed and Usability
Faster than a file server on LAN. No noisy fans
Other Features
Power management, powers down when your computer is put to sleep or turned off
Known Issues (if any)
Ensure that prior to connecting it to your computer, that in CMOS setup, USB LEGACY is DISABLED, otherwise your computer will refuse to POST with the external HD detected. On some Award BIOS, the motherboard will get stuck in memory test, leading you to mistakenly conclude that your RAM is faulty.
Rating: 8/10
