Hi Hennie

Regarding the hack:

Still works for me, I've never been prevented from recording since installing that little black box. However just bear in mind it works with most, not all DVD recorders. Due to having a very hectic year work-wise, I haven't been able to look into the issue further. Perhaps 2011 will be quieter and I can get round to sorting it out for ALL DVD recorders.

Hi there

This device is necessary when using a DVD recorder, and does not involve the use of a personal computer. If you are trying to record from DSTV into your laptop I suggest you visit Incredible Connection and ask them for a VCR2PC made by ION AUDIO.

Most capture devices used on PC do not concern themselves with DRM, well, those that I've tried anyway. The ION AUDIO VCR2PC works, regardless of whether there's AACS or Macrovision. However please note that these capture devices cannot record to a quality that the standalone DVD recorders, can.

There is no limitation on the number of times said material can be recorded. There could be something like that implemented in DVD recorder firmware but the aim of this whole exercise is to remove the DRM before it gets to the DVD recorder.
