There are some merits to this study yes.
What I've found in my own personal experience:
1) I burn calories bigtime, when sitting in front of a PC and coding difficult applications. I actually consume vast amounts of food cause I am
always hungry and still lose weight. Last year I dropped 1/2 a jean size on this hectic project at work.
2) Working on cars over weekends, helps to improve my overall fitness. In the beginning it was very hard, it caused much pain. But now its great.
3) I do watch TV, but its a case of I do it while looking after my son, which means regularly getting up to either pick up his toys he chucked under the couch, or to play with him because he gets bored and shouts at me.
