You have got to love Multichoice, the big media24 broadcasting company that doesn't give a toss about their subscribers.
First they unleashed DRM on us in March 2010. The decoder outputs a DRM signal even when no signal is received i.e. the dish is disconnected.
Then they moved the High Definition channels in and amongst the SD channels, which, if you happen to encounter them, can cause your poor little DSD1131 decoder to hang or refuse to decode the neighbouring SD channel, sometimes you have to switch back to channel 101 (M-Net) and then back to the channel you tried to watch to resynch the decoder.
In a very smart move, they deprecated, without warning, the Animax channel. I can see the anime fanboys going apeshit right now with petitions etc... like they did back in 2001 about the Sci-Fi channel.
This year, they showed a boat-load of interesting programming on Discovery, and other related channels. No prizes for guessing, all those good programmes are now exclusively on HD, and all that remains is utter crap on the SD channels.
So if like me you liked all the science programmes, you now have to get a HD PVR because the fools at Multichoice now deem it time for the masses to upgrade to HD, whether they want to, or not.
